It is now 25 years since the release of Operation Flashpoint, the first major game I worked on. A livestream was held to celebrate the anniversary, and you can watch it on YouTube.

To mark the occasion, I made a small interactive teaser: Arma to Bayaya. It starts in a familiar military scene and then… something happens. Try it at arma.orbisfabula.com. It is very short, and it runs in your browser, on desktop and mobile.

Scene

Bayaya is not a military game. It is based on a Czech fairy tale, and its world is built around travel, work, atmosphere, characters, and story rather than combat. Still, there is a connection. I have always been interested in creating places the player can enter: large landscapes, long views, moving characters, emergent behaviour, and worlds that can keep growing after release.

In OFP and Arma, that language was military simulation. In Orbis Fabula and Bayaya, I am trying to use similar ambitions for something very different: an interactive fairy-tale world.

If you have any feedback, join our Discord and share your thoughts.

And if you are curious about Bayaya itself, please wishlist it on Steam.
